Brunei Keglers for world meet

A TelBru representing the uniforms to Awang Ismail



16th August 2008 - A six-man Brunei national tenpin bowling team will be taking part in the World's Men Tenpin Bowling Championship in Bangkok from Aug 20-31 hoping to achieve a top 20 finish.


The team led by national bowling coach Mike Griffith comprised Mahadi bin Hj Basman, Zainuddin bin Hj Nordin, Hj Bahzi bin Hj Damit, Ak Mohd Aizat bin Pg Abu Samah, Pg Eshamuddin bin Pg Hj Mohiddin and Pg Yasfadillah bin Pg Yassin.

It's the first time Brunei Darussalam are participating in the championship together with teams from 56 other nations.

The Australian coach Griffith said to be realistic, we will try to perform our best in the championship.
Griffith who has been coaching Brunei's keglers for nearly three years also said: "If we do well our players might even finish top 20 and achieve their personal best in the championship."
"We face a very tough competition because all the participating nations will be sending their best teams in the championship," he added
Brunei will be taking part in Singles, Doubles, Trio, Team, Master and All events.
Meanwhile, Pg Sabri bin Pg Hj Mohammad, the Acting Director of Youth and Sports handed over the national flag to Awang Ismail bin Hj Mohiddin, the Vice-President of Brunei Darussalam Tenpin Bowling Congress at a ceremony yesterday.
In addition, TelBru also presented sponsored uniforms to the Brunei keglers.
Griffith also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to b-mobile, TelBru and Sheraton Utama Hotel for their support and sponsorship.
